Ivory Joe Cole
Ivory Joe Cole is a musical I've been writing with partners Mike Tavera (music) and Kelly Ward (book). I write the lyrics. Jack McMorrow, at Atlantic Records, put us together when Mike And Kelly were looking for someone with the right background.
We were invited to the New York Musical Theatre Festival for Sept. of 2007 but due to scheduling we were unable to attend. There will be a workshop of Ivory Joe Cole in January of 2008.
Ivory Joe Cole is based on Othello but the story now takes place around 1950 at the end of the Swing Era. Our Othello (Ivory Joe Cole) leads a big band along with his jealous brother, the Iago character, Henry. The story spans from Harlem, where they grew up, to the Miami music scene where they might have become stars - except they don't due to that unfortunate deceipt and murder thing. Damn that Shakespeare! I perform a song from the show during a gig at the Jazz Standard in NYC.

written/produced/arranged
2. When I'm not writing songs for my own albums, I've been known to produce and arrange for other artists. I like doing this very much. I also like write in styles that aren't represented on my own projects. I put together a montage of short clips from other artist's albums that I've produced and/or arranged, mixed in with some of my songs written for other artists, projects or demos.
You'll hear clips of 2 songs I produced and arranged for Kate McGarry ( Palmetto ), 2 arranged for Eddie McGarry, 2 produced and arranged for Natalie Gamsu, A co-written song with Marjorie Maye - You've Got A Way Without Words - for Jamai ( BMG ), Another clip produced and arranged for Audrey Silver, Thos Shipley singing Open Up Your Eyes (music Michael Tavera / lyrics S Santoro ) from the musical Ivory Joe Cole, clips from various other demos and projects.
